R.R. Foil Plant Science Research (North Farm) Center Field Day – July 19, 2012
It has been a number of years since a field day was conducted at the R.R. Foil Plant Science Research center near the campus of Mississippi State University. To that end, a row crop field day will be held on Thursday July 19, 2012. For those that wish to attend, we ask that you arrive by approximately 8:30 a.m. as air conditioned tour busses will depart at 9:00 a.m. sharp. The tour will last approximately two hours and will cover a wide variety of topics including: new insect and weed control technology in cotton and soybean; fertility trials; seed treatment trials in cotton, corn, and soybean; variety and hybrid evaluation demonstrations; planter performance trials; foliar insecticide performance; irrigation technology; and several others.
There will be six stops on this tour with experts from throughout the state discussing pertinent issues in cotton, corn, soybean, and grain sorghum. This tour is designed to highlight research activities being conducted at this facility. To that end, we will not spend a tremendous amount of time touring individual plots. Rather, we will have multiple experts at each stop discussing research that is being conducted in several cropping systems. If you have general questions or questions regarding one of the topics discussed, these experts will be more than happy to answer them.
Tours are scheduled to conclude at 11:00 a.m. at which time lunch will be provided by the Mississippi State University Department of Plant and Soil Science and Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology, and Plant Pathology. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Tammy Scott at 662-325-2701 or any Mississippi State University Extension Specialist.
