On February 7th 2013, Mississippi State University will host the first annual “Future of Agriculture Graduate Student Competition”.  The competition will be open to M.S. and PhD. level graduate students that are working in production agriculture.

Future of Agri Flyer3The goals of this event are three fold; first we wanted to create another avenue for our students to speak and present their research findings to a diverse audience to include growers, consultants and industry personnel.  Second, we are extending open invitations to all the major Agricultural Industries that may be interested in scouting for talented students at Mississippi State University.  This will allow students to develop relationships with potential employers prior to graduation.  Finally, this is a multi-disciplinary event.  There are very few meetings where students in Weed Science, Entomology, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, etc. actually get to compete against each other.  We believe this will also help the students develop better relationships with each other and foster team building skills.

We are looking forward to hosting this new event and see potential for tremendous growth opportunities in the future.
