Pheromone Trap Counts, May 29, 2014

Bollworm trap catches were down in the Delta region this week from last week, while tobacco budworm catches were higher in the Delta (Table 1). There was minimal change for catches of either species in Northeastern MS.

This is the first week to report southwestern corn borer pheromone trap results for 2014. Based on our new pheromone trap thresholds for non-Bt corn, no counties in the state were even at 1/2 of threshold during the week as we are likely between the first and second generation flights (Table 2).
