Mississippi State University will be hosting 2 scout schools this year. We have transitioned over the years to make these trainings much more diverse than insect pest alone. This year we will be including insects, disease, fertility, and herbicide symptomology. Scout schools are free of charge and welcome to anyone who would like to attend. Each instructor will cover topics and provide useful information for the experienced as well as the novice. Also, there is no need to preregister, just show up.
Agenda:
- 9:00-10:00 Insect Pest Identification of Major Row Crops in MS (Angus Catchot)
- 10:00- 10:30 Sampling Techniques and Thresholds (Jeff Gore and Don Cook)
- 10:30 – 11:00 Corn and Sorghum Agronomic Practices (Erick Larson)
- 11:00 – 11:30 Fertility Recommendations for MS Row Crops (Bobby Golden)
- 11:30 – 12:00 Lunch (Provided)
- 12:00 – 1:30 Diseases of Cotton, Corn, and Soybeans ( Tom Allen)

it seems strange that there are no sessions in the Delta. The Clarksdale session always seemed well attended.
