Cotton Defoliation Training Sessions
A series of cotton defoliation training sessions will be held in Mississippi over the next couple of weeks. Given that a portion of this crop will defoliated somewhat earlier than in the past few years as well as the fickle nature of defoliation, we felt it prudent to conduct a series of educational presentations targeted toward growers, consultants, ag retailers, distribution, etc. Each session will last from 10 am until 12 noon and lunch will be provided at each location.
The following speakers will be present at each location: Dr. Dan Reynolds – Mississippi State University; Dr. Tyson Raper – University of Tennessee; Mr. Tyler Sandlin – Auburn University; and Darrin Dodds – Mississippi State University.
The following topics will be covered at each location: physiology of cotton defoliation; defoliation timing; defoliation programs; and defoliation effects on fiber quality.
