MDAC Continues to Enforce Label Requirements for Registered Dicamba Products
On June 3, 2020, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a ruling that vacated Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registrations for three dicamba herbicides used by farmers across the nation. The products impacted are Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia.
“Our farmers rely on dicamba technology to manage pigweed (Palmer amaranth), an invasive weed that strangles crops and affects livelihoods. We look forward to working with the EPA to find a solution in the best interest of Mississippi farmers so that Mississippi crops and products can continue to benefit all Mississippians,” said Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson.
The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce will enforce label requirements as the products are currently registered in Mississippi until further guidance is received from the EPA. The Department will consider all options available to act in the best interest of Mississippi farmers.
